What is Hypnosis?

At its core, hypnosis is a state of heightened focus and concentration, often accompanied by deep relaxation. It's akin to experiencing a vivid daydream, where the outside world fades away, allowing you to focus intently on a specific thought, memory, feeling, or suggestion. This state is often known as "trance," and it's something that most of us experience naturally in our daily lives, such as when we're engrossed in a book or lost in thought while driving a familiar route.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnosis works by bypassing the critical faculty of the conscious mind to access the subconscious mind directly. The subconscious mind is a reservoir of beliefs, memories, and learned behaviors. Through hypnosis, a trained therapist can suggest new ideas and concepts that align with your goals, such as quitting smoking, losing weight, or overcoming anxiety. These suggestions can then take root in the subconscious mind, leading to changes in behavior and thought patterns in the conscious state.

Will I be aware of what is happening?

Yes. Although hypnosis induces profound relaxation and a sense of tranquillity, you will remain fully aware and have complete control over the process, allowing your mind to unwind and reach a peaceful state. It's not uncommon for clients to fall asleep during the session due to the heightened relaxation.

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot be hypnotised against your will, nor can you be made to do things that are against your values or self-interest. Hypnosis is a safe, voluntary, and cooperative interaction between therapist and client, and the client remains in control throughout the session.

How many sessions will I need?

Lots of people find that one session is enough to start the wheels of change and transform their lives. As a rule, we say "Two, and then Review".

I live far away, am I able to have live online sessions?

Absolutely. Hypnotherapy is just as effective when carried out during live online sessions.

Wellness Sessions  are one-hour sessions where you can step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life to just be. It's a time dedicated entirely to you—whether you wish to talk about your progress, discuss challenges, or simply enjoy a quiet hour of reflection and connection.

You have decided to have hypnotherapy, what next?

When you make the decision to proceed, you will need to book in for a Full Consultation and Induction with Rocksands. During this meeting, you and Rocksands will discuss the specifics of the issue at hand, delve into the root of it, and develop a treatment plan. To finish, an Induction Hypnosis session will be carried out, followed by a small homework task to complete before your full Hypnotherapy session the following week.
